Every morning, noon and night, in gyms across America, you can hear the sound of a low but persistent rumble. Listen carefully and, in between the whir of the treadmill and the clank of weight plates, your ears will pick it up: the clamor of empty stomachs crying out for food. Some people just don't have time to eat in reasonable proximity to their workout, but others deliberately go without food. One of the common misconceptions that people trying to lose weight have is that exercising on an empty stomach burns more fat than exercising after eating. They believe...
I have been absolutely horrible about updates and I apologize for that! I have an article in the works that I will hopefully have up later on this week. Oh, and no pictures, but I have been doing well on my weight loss journey: Current weight: 265.4 Total Loss: 39.6 pounds!
I believe it is of paramount important to record what you eat each and every day to make sure you are not only staying within your alotted calorie allowance, but also that you are eating the right kinds of food. To show you how important I believe it is, I have I have added a section to the right hand side of this page that shows my daily food journal. I enter the information on The Daily Plate brought to you by Livestrong.com every single day, whether it is good or bad.
I encourage all of you to do...

I even joined a gym for a year and ended up going less than 20 times before I finally canceled it. When I decided to lose weight this time around I wanted to do it right and make sure I got my exercise in; but the question remained how do I stay...
Question: What the HECK does BMR stand for?
Answer: Basal Metabolic Rate
But what does it REALLY mean? Your Basal Metablic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body will burn in a day just keeping you alive. If you were to stay in bed all day and watch reruns of Lost, your body would still use these calories to breathe, grow your hair, blink, etc.
Great! Now you know what BMR stands for, but why do you need to know? What good is that number to you? Knowing your BMR is critical during any weight loss journey. Once you know your BMR,...
How about a brief update? I am just over 1 month into the process and have lost 17 pounds! I started at 300 pounds and I am currently at 283. There is a weight loss ticker on the page that displays up to the minute status on where I am in my journey. I will have reached my goal weight when I hit 200.
That's it for now. But I expect there will be much more in the coming months.
